Erica Procunier

Erica Procunier is an Emmy-nominated, two-time Canadian Screen Award–winning composer for film and media. Her work spans film, television, theatre, advertising, and interactive productions, and is known for its whimsy, mischievousness, and playful sensibility, paired with a sharp instinct for comedic timing. In contrast, Erica’s work can shift decisively toward tension, psychological unease, and emotional weight, revealing a musical voice well suited to dramatic storytelling.

Recent credits include Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go and Apple TV+’s Emmy-winning series Ghostwriter, for which she received a 2021 Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Original Music. Her film work includes the hit misfit comedy Don’t Talk to Irene, starring Geena Davis, and the anxiety-driven drama Mariner—both official selections of the Toronto International Film Festival. Erica has also scored the rowdy CBC primetime comedy Little Dog and season one of the CBC children’s series Detention Adventure.

Erica was commissioned by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and TIFF to compose the score for DAM! The Story of Kit the Beaver, a live film-concert created for Canada’s 150th anniversary. Her orchestral work also includes the score for the three-part documentary series Great Lakes Untamed (TVO / Smithsonian Channel), which was later adapted into a live orchestral concert suite performed to picture—highlighting her facility in translating cinematic storytelling to the concert stage.

Erica won Canadian Screen Awards in 2022 for her score to the CBC documentary The COVID Cruise and in 2024 for her work on Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go. She was nominated for the Peer Raben Award at SoundTrack_Cologne in 2021, selected for Berlinale Talents in 2019, and is an alumna of the Canadian Film Centre’s Slaight Family Music Lab. She holds a Master of Music in Composition from Western University, teaches Scoring Techniques for Picture at Humber College, and serves on the board of directors of the Screen Composers Guild of Canada.
